Culture Audits

Measuring culture is often very badly done. Many organisations have succumbed to the ‘Engagement’ model of measurement and as a result often miss the mark. The problem is that we simply measure the wrong things for the wrong reasons.

Culture is often defined as the values, norms and behaviours evidenced within a group or community. Why then measure only whether people are engaged and/or satisfied?

Think of an organisation that provides many staff benefits, and does not have a strong sense of accountability. Many employees, if asked, would tell you they are highly engaged and satisfied. That's not the same as being productive and loyal.

We are not saying that it is a bad thing to measure engagement. Just don’t confuse it with culture. The best way to gauge culture is through identifying the predominant behaviours that occur in an organisation. Observable behaviours are the visible manifestations of your values and beliefs.

Viyale can help you understand where your current baseline of organisational  behaviours stand relative to your desired set of behaviours. We can do this in a number of ways:

  • Customer and client feedback.
  • 360 feedback
  • Interview and observation. For businesses who want a more in depth analysis of specific parts of their organisation, Vitale can custom design a face to face diagnostic method that may combine elements of Appreciative Inquiry and individual behaviour assessment.
  • Vitale can implement the full range of organisational and individual behaviour measurements to assess alignment across and through the organisation.
